Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-01-17

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ShortcutStudio (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may use the Service only with permission of a parent or legal guardian.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate account information and to promptly update it if it changes.

Authentication and billing are handled by Clerk.

3. Subscriptions, Billing, and Payments

Paid plans and billing are managed through Clerk Billing, with payments processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.

Pricing, plan limits, and features may change over time. If we make changes that materially affect your plan, we will provide notice where required. If you continue using the Service after a change becomes effective, you accept the updated pricing, limits, or features.

You are responsible for any taxes, duties, or similar governmental assessments associated with your purchase, except where we are required by law to collect them.

4. The Service and Acceptable Use

ShortcutStudio helps you design Apple Shortcuts using AI, templates, and a visual editor.

You agree not to misuse the Service. Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  • Unauthorized access: attempting to access, modify, or interfere with other users' accounts, projects, or data.
  • Abuse and disruption: disrupting the Service or its infrastructure, including denial-of-service attempts, excessive automated traffic, or attempts to bypass rate limits or plan limits.
  • Unlawful or harmful use: using the Service to generate, distribute, or facilitate unlawful content or activities, including malware, credential theft, exploitation, or harassment.
  • Reverse engineering and scraping: reverse engineering, scraping, or extracting protected parts of the Service except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Security testing without permission: attempting to probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities without our written authorization.
  • Impersonation: misrepresenting your identity, or pretending to be another person or organization in a way that is misleading or harmful.

We may investigate suspected violations and take action, including suspension or termination, to protect users and the Service.

5. Your Content and License

You retain ownership of your projects, prompts, and shortcut content ("User Content").

To operate the Service, you grant ShortcutStudio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, display, and perform your User Content as needed to provide and improve the Service. This license ends when your User Content is deleted from our systems, except for content retained for legal, security, or backup purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.

If you publish a project to the marketplace, you authorize us to publicly display project metadata, which may include: name, summary, icon, counts (likes, downloads, remixes), and creator name and profile image.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to submit and publish User Content and that doing so does not violate any law or any third-party rights.

6. AI Features and Model Providers

The Service uses AI through OpenRouter to generate shortcut programs. The default model is openai/gpt-oss-120b (OSS-120B).

OpenRouter may route requests through providers configured by us (currently DeepInfra, Novita, GMICloud, and NCompass, in that order). We disable OpenRouter fallbacks, so if none of these providers are available, the request may fail.

We do not allow providers to train on your data to our knowledge, but each provider has its own policies. If you have concerns, you should review OpenRouter and provider policies.

AI output can be incorrect, incomplete, or unsafe. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating any shortcut before use.

7. Shortcut Conversion and Signing

To deliver signed shortcuts, we convert your program to a plist and send it to our signing service. The signing service returns a signed .shortcut file that you can download.

Shortcuts may not be signable at some times, and signing may fail or be unavailable due to maintenance, provider availability, or technical issues.

We may store a cached signed file for your project to speed up future downloads. Cached signed files are deleted when the associated project is deleted or when we process account deletion, subject to reasonable backup and security retention.

8. Marketplace and Public Projects

If you publish a project, it becomes public. Other users may be able to view, download, and remix it within the Service.

By publishing, you grant other users a non-exclusive license to access and use the published project for personal or commercial use within ShortcutStudio, including the right to remix it, unless a different license or restriction is clearly stated by you at the time of publishing (if the Service supports that setting).

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to publish the content you share, including any icons, branding, or embedded assets.

9. Feedback

If you submit feedback or suggestions, you grant us the right to use them without obligation or compensation. We may incorporate feedback into the Service.

10. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, or pose a security or legal risk. Where reasonable, we will attempt to provide notice before suspension, but we may act immediately if necessary to protect users or the Service.

You may delete your account through Clerk. When a Clerk deletion event is received, we delete your stored project data in our database, subject to limited retention for backups, security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error free.

ShortcutStudio is not responsible for actions you take based on AI-generated output, templates, or marketplace content.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShortcutStudio and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShortcutStudio's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to use the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ShortcutStudio harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service, (b) your User Content, or (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, internet outages, government actions, labor disputes, or alien invasion.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post an updated version and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes become effective means you accept the new Terms.
